The Westside Hair Care Co. will open its first salon on the westside this week.
The co-operative has leased a five-bedroom, three-bathroom house on the former site of the former West Side Hair Care, which opened in 2014.
Owner Andrew Wilson said he could not believe the number of people who had come to visit.
“They just really loved coming in, they came in for haircuts and things, they liked to do their hair and we thought they would love it here, we said, ‘Well, come in’,” he said.
“It’s a great opportunity to grow our business and we’re really excited about it.”
The co’s first customers are expected to be men, but Mr Wilson said they could also cater to the elderly.
A woman told The West Australian she wanted to take a trip to Westside after hearing about the co-op.
“I’ve been wanting to come here for a while now and now I can do that,” she said.
Ms Bicknell said she wanted the co to be a part of the community.
Westside is the latest in a series of co-ops to open in Western Australia.
Kangaroo Bay was recently converted to an open-air spa, with owner Rob Williams taking customers from the hotel to the spa.
Cape Otway’s new Hair Therapy Co. opened in July.
But Mr Wilson admitted that he was unsure about how many people would actually visit his salon.
He said he hoped to sell the property in the next few months.
“If it’s not for the people who come here, then we won’t have the space to open our salon,” he said
